Arrests in Pembroke Pines
The Pembroke Pines Police Department’s headquarters is at 9500 Pines Boulevard, about 11 miles straight-line from Adam’s office, and the city lists a West District Station at 18400 Johnson Street. Pembroke Pines officers make the arrest; the Broward Sheriff’s Office runs the jail where anyone held is booked.
Where Pembroke Pines cases are heard
- Misdemeanors brought by the Pembroke Pines Police Department are filed at the South Regional Courthouse, 3550 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, about 6 miles from police headquarters.
- DUI cases are filed at the Central Courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale. Broward’s chief judge sends every DUI there, and Adam’s office is across the street.
- Felonies are heard at the Central Courthouse.
Read your paperwork closely. A misdemeanor such as a domestic violence battery goes to Hollywood, while a DUI from the same night goes to Fort Lauderdale.
The first 24 hours
A person who is not released on bond sees a judge at first appearance within 24 hours. Broward holds first appearance in Room 4155 of the Central Courthouse West Tower, with the person on video from the jail, at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays. In a domestic violence case, the judge at first appearance can set conditions such as no contact with the other person, so it helps to have a lawyer there.
DUI and your license
A DUI arrest starts a 10-day deadline to request a review of the license suspension. The Broward Bureau of Administrative Reviews office is in Lauderdale Lakes, and the request can be emailed. See DUI defense and Florida DUI penalties.
