Arrests in Jupiter
The Jupiter Police Department makes arrests inside the town. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office polices the unincorporated areas nearby, and the Florida Highway Patrol makes arrests on the state roads.
Where Jupiter cases are heard
- Misdemeanors and criminal traffic, including DUI, from the Jupiter Police Department belong to the 15th Circuit’s Northern Region. All Northern Region cases are heard at the North County Courthouse, 3188 PGA Boulevard in Palm Beach Gardens, and citations that require a court appearance are scheduled there.
- Felonies go to circuit criminal judges, most of whom sit at the Judge Daniel T. K. Hurley Courthouse, 205 North Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach.
Your paperwork names the courthouse and the date, so check it before you assume where your case is.
The first 24 hours
A person who is held after an arrest sees a judge within 24 hours in the Criminal Justice Courtroom at 3228 Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach, the same address as the Sheriff’s Main Detention Center. Hearings start at 10:00 a.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays. On a misdemeanor, the judge may arraign and sentence at that first hearing, so it is worth having a lawyer’s advice before pleading. PBSO Inmate Records is (561) 688-4340.
DUI and your license
A Jupiter DUI starts the 10-day deadline on your license. The state’s Palm Beach County listing directs license reviews to the Bureau of Administrative Reviews office in Lauderdale Lakes, and the request can be emailed. See DUI defense, what to expect when pulled over and Florida DUI penalties.
