Arrests in Kendall
Kendall is a Census-designated place, not an incorporated city, so there is no Kendall police department. The county’s law enforcement agency is the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, which replaced the Miami-Dade Police Department in 2025. The county’s Kendall District Station is at 7707 SW 117th Avenue. The Florida Highway Patrol’s Troop E also covers Miami-Dade County.
After an arrest, the person is taken north to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK), 7000 NW 41 Street in Miami, for booking, which can take several hours. Anyone still held sees a judge at first appearance, normally at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building.
Kendall cases in court
- Misdemeanors and criminal traffic charges, including DUI, are heard by county court judges, at the Gerstein Justice Building or one of five branch courthouses, including the Coral Gables Branch Courthouse (3100 Ponce de Leon Boulevard) and the South Dade Justice Center (10710 SW 211th Street). Your paperwork names the courthouse; do not assume it is the nearest one.
- Felonies are heard by circuit court judges at the Gerstein Justice Building, 1351 NW 12th Street in Miami.
- Prosecution is handled by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, under State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle.
DUI arrests in Kendall
A Kendall DUI starts a criminal case and a license suspension. The license deadline is 10 days. The state’s Bureau of Administrative Reviews office for Miami-Dade, in downtown Miami, is temporarily closed to the public, so the hearing request goes by email. See the 10-day rule, pulled over for DUI and DUI defense.
The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Back on Track program is a DUI diversion program for some first-time defendants. Prosecutors decide eligibility, based on criminal history, driving history and the circumstances of the arrest.
