Davie Criminal Defense and DUI

The Town of Davie has its own police department, and the Florida Highway Patrol's Broward district station is in Davie too. Adam defends people arrested in Davie from his office about 9 miles east in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Who makes arrests in Davie

  • Davie Police Department. The town’s police headquarters is at 1230 S Nob Hill Road, about 9 miles straight-line from Adam’s office.
  • Florida Highway Patrol. FHP Troop L covers Broward through its Davie District, and the district station is at 14190 State Road 84 in Davie. Troopers make DUI and criminal traffic arrests on the highways that run through and around the town.

Which agency arrested you matters, because in Broward it decides where a misdemeanor case is heard.

Where Davie cases are heard

  • Misdemeanors brought by the Davie Police Department are filed at the West Regional Courthouse, 100 N Pine Island Rd in Plantation, under 2 miles from the police station. FHP cases follow the Highway Patrol’s own assignment, which depends on the part of the county.
  • DUI cases are filed at the Central Courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, whichever agency made the arrest. Adam’s office is across the street.
  • Felonies are heard at the Central Courthouse.
  • School zone camera tickets. Since March 2, 2026, new red light and school zone camera cases from across Broward, including Davie’s, are heard at the Central Courthouse.

The first 24 hours

The Broward Sheriff’s Office runs the jails, so a person arrested by Davie police or FHP is booked into BSO custody. If not released on bond, they see a judge at first appearance within 24 hours, in Room 4155 of the Central Courthouse West Tower, by video from the jail. Dockets run at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays. Use BSO’s online arrest search or call (954) 831-5900 to find someone.

DUI and your license

A Davie DUI is a criminal case and a separate license suspension. You have 10 days to request a review from the Bureau of Administrative Reviews, whose Broward office is in Lauderdale Lakes, about 7 miles from the Davie police station. The request can be emailed. See DUI defense, after a DUI arrest and DUI accidents.
