Arrests in Doral
The City of Doral has its own police department. Whichever agency makes an arrest in Miami-Dade, the person is taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK), 7000 NW 41 Street, for booking. TGK is about 23 miles straight-line from Adam’s office.
Booking at TGK includes fingerprints, photographs, a medical screening and the charges being entered, and it can take several hours. Bond information may not be available until booking is finished. Even after bond is posted, release can take several more hours. TGK’s information line is 786-263-5550. Anyone still held sees a judge at first appearance, which is normally held at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building in Miami.
Doral cases in court
- Doral has no courthouse of its own. Miami-Dade county court criminal judges sit at the Gerstein Justice Building and at five branch courthouses (Coral Gables, Hialeah, Miami Beach, the South Dade Justice Center and the Harvey Ruvin Justice Center). Your paperwork names the courthouse for your case.
- Misdemeanors and criminal traffic charges, including DUI, are heard by county court judges, each case assigned to one of eight divisions.
- Felonies are heard by circuit court judges at the Gerstein Justice Building, 1351 NW 12th Street in Miami.
- Prosecution is handled by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.
DUI arrests in Doral
A Doral DUI starts a criminal case and a license suspension. You have 10 days from the arrest to request a hearing or a waiver. The Bureau of Administrative Reviews office for Miami-Dade is temporarily closed to the public, and requests go by email. See the 10-day rule, what to do after a DUI arrest and DUI defense. Miami-Dade prosecutors also run a first-time DUI diversion program, Back on Track, and decide who is eligible.
