Arrests in Miramar
The Miramar Police Department’s headquarters is at 11765 City Hall Promenade, about 13 miles straight-line from Adam’s office. The department also lists a police substation at 3500 SW 69th Avenue, in the Historic Miramar Public Safety Complex. Miramar officers make arrests in the city, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office holds anyone booked into jail.
Where Miramar cases are heard
- Misdemeanors brought by the Miramar Police Department are filed at the South Regional Courthouse, 3550 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood, about 8 miles from police headquarters. The State Attorney has a satellite office there.
- DUI cases are filed at the Central Courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, under the circuit’s order for every Broward DUI. Adam’s office is across the street.
- Felonies are heard at the Central Courthouse.
That split surprises people. A Miramar driver charged with DUI and a passenger charged with a misdemeanor from the same stop can have court dates in two different cities.
