Coral Springs Criminal Defense and DUI

Coral Springs, in northwest Broward County, has its own police department. Adam defends people arrested in Coral Springs for DUI and criminal charges, from his office about 13 miles away in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Arrests in Coral Springs

The Coral Springs Police Department, at 2801 Coral Springs Drive, patrols the city. It is about 13 miles straight-line from Adam’s office in downtown Fort Lauderdale. A person arrested in Coral Springs is booked into the Broward Sheriff’s Office jail system and, if not released on bond, sees a judge at first appearance within 24 hours, at the Central Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale by video from the jail.

Coral Springs cases in court

  • Misdemeanors brought by the Coral Springs Police Department are filed at the North Regional Courthouse, 1600 W Hillsboro Blvd in Deerfield Beach.
  • DUI cases are filed at the Central Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale. The circuit’s administrative order sends every Broward DUI there, whichever agency made the arrest.
  • Felonies are heard at the Central Courthouse at 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, across the street from Adam’s office.

Families and young people

Cases involving teenagers and parents, such as underage drinking at a party, a school incident or a first arrest, need careful handling. In 2011, when the Sun Sentinel reported on Coral Springs’ proposal to fine parents who allow underage drinking at home, it quoted Adam about a case in which he represented a set of parents; prosecutors had originally asked for jail, and the judge ordered court costs only. Every case is different. Read the news story and about juvenile defense.

Florida law makes it a crime for a person who controls a home to allow an open house party where minors possess or drink alcohol or drugs, if the person knows and fails to take reasonable steps to stop it. A first violation is a second-degree misdemeanor.
