Arrests in Boynton Beach
The Boynton Beach Police Department’s headquarters is at 2100 High Ridge Road, about 30 miles straight-line from Adam’s office. Boynton officers make most arrests inside the city. West of the city, in unincorporated Boynton Beach and Delray Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office patrols as District 6, and the Florida Highway Patrol’s Lake Worth District covers Palm Beach County roads.
Where Boynton Beach cases are heard
- Misdemeanors and criminal traffic, including DUI, from Boynton Beach police and PBSO District 6 belong to the 15th Circuit’s Southern Region and are heard at the South County Courthouse, 200 West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach, about 6 miles south of police headquarters.
- Arraignments on those charges are held there weekly, with prosecutors from the State Attorney’s South County office in the building.
- Felonies go to circuit criminal judges, most of whom sit at the Judge Daniel T. K. Hurley Courthouse in West Palm Beach.
The first 24 hours
Palm Beach County’s jails are run by the Sheriff’s Office. A person held after a Boynton Beach arrest sees a judge within 24 hours in the first appearance courtroom at 3228 Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach, the same address as PBSO’s Main Detention Center. Hearings start at 10:00 a.m. on weekdays and 9:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays. On a misdemeanor, the judge can arraign and sentence at that hearing, which is a reason to talk to a lawyer first. PBSO Inmate Records is (561) 688-4340.
DUI and your license
A Boynton Beach DUI starts the 10-day clock on your license. The state’s Palm Beach County listing sends license reviews to the Bureau of Administrative Reviews office in Lauderdale Lakes, and the request can be emailed, so there is no need to drive to Broward for it.
