Plantation Criminal Defense and DUI

Plantation has its own police department and one of Broward's three regional courthouses. Adam defends people arrested in Plantation from his office about 6 miles east in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Arrests in Plantation

The Plantation Police Department’s headquarters is at 451 NW 70th Terrace, about 6 miles straight-line from Adam’s office. Plantation officers patrol the city and make arrests there; the Broward Sheriff’s Office runs the county jail where anyone held is booked.

The courthouse in Plantation

The West Regional Courthouse is at 100 N Pine Island Road, under a mile and a half from Plantation police headquarters. County court criminal judges sit there, the Clerk handles traffic and misdemeanor matters, and the State Attorney has a satellite office in the building. It also hears misdemeanors from the Davie and Sunrise police and from BSO in Tamarac and Weston.

  • Misdemeanors brought by the Plantation Police Department are filed at the West Regional Courthouse.
  • DUI cases are filed at the Central Courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, under the circuit’s order for every Broward DUI. Adam’s office is across the street.
  • Felonies are heard at the Central Courthouse. The regional courthouses do not hear felonies.

The first 24 hours

Anyone not released on bond sees a judge at first appearance within 24 hours. First appearance for the whole county is held in Room 4155 of the Central Courthouse West Tower in Fort Lauderdale, with the person on video from the jail. Dockets run at 8:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays. Family can check BSO’s online arrest search or call (954) 831-5900.

DUI and your license

A Plantation DUI starts a criminal case and an administrative license suspension, with a 10-day deadline to ask for a review. The Broward Bureau of Administrative Reviews office in Lauderdale Lakes is about 4 miles from Plantation police headquarters, and requests can be emailed. See DUI defense and after a DUI arrest.
