Arrests in Coconut Creek
The Coconut Creek Police Department works out of the city’s Government Center at 4800 West Copans Road, at the corner of Copans and Lyons Roads, and its lobby is open around the clock. It is about 10 miles straight-line from Adam’s office. Coconut Creek officers make the arrest, but the Broward Sheriff’s Office runs the county’s jails, so anyone held after an arrest is booked into BSO custody.
Where Coconut Creek cases are heard
Broward’s chief judge assigns misdemeanor cases to a courthouse according to the agency that made the arrest.
- Misdemeanors brought by the Coconut Creek Police Department are filed at the North Regional Courthouse, 1600 W Hillsboro Blvd in Deerfield Beach, about 6 miles from the police station.
- DUI cases are the exception. Every Broward DUI is filed at the Central Courthouse, 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, across the street from Adam’s office.
- Felonies are also heard at the Central Courthouse.
If a different agency arrested you in Coconut Creek, such as the Florida Highway Patrol, your case follows that agency’s assignment. Your paperwork will name the courthouse.
